Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
As a board-certified adult psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I offer psychiatric medication management with supportive therapy. Your treatment plan may involve prescribing medication, therapy, or a combination of both. I also provide education on life skills for recovery, coping skills, lifestyle changes, and self-care strategies. I believe in a patient-centered care approach that emphasizes the respect and compassion I have for my clients. My treatment style is heavily dependent on provider-patient collaboration to find the best treatment plan; I also ensure all my clients have access to and knowledge of the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment options. My patients will be heavily involved in the decision-making process and their treatment goals are of the utmost importance to me. Empathy, trust, and respect are the foundation of my approach to treatment; I strive to create a comfortable and safe environment for patients to feel at ease when discussing their concerns.
My areas of clinical interest/focus include:
-
Mood and anxiety disorders (mainly depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder)
-
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
-
Trauma-Informed Care (a patient-centered approach that recognizes the impact of trauma and adversity on mental health)
As a provider, I strive to be continually learning; the field of mental health is constantly evolving and I make a point to keep up with the latest research and techniques in order to provide the best care possible. It is incredibly important to me that I am a part of the effort to destigmatize mental health issues, as well as improve the public’s access to this care. I am currently learning about TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and Spravato (esketamine) treatment from the director of the clinic, Prisca Nwizugbo, and hope to offer these services to clients suffering from major depressive disorder in the future.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, music, cooking, meditation, and spending time with my family. I also love traveling and exploring new places, which allows me to embrace new adventures and learn about other cultures.
